Hiru FM: Most Popular Radio Channel of the Year at GBE Awards 2026

Hiru FM has received Most Popular Radio Channel of the Year at the Global Business Excellence Awards 2026. Organised by London Business Consultancy, London, UK, the awards recognise businesses, professionals and creative work across a broad range of fields. For Hiru FM, the 2026 recognition places the spotlight on sinhala radio broadcasting.

A station encountered through the day

Hiru FM is a Sinhala radio station within Asia Broadcasting Corporation. Its public offering combines music, presenters and radio programmes, with online listening and programme material extending the station beyond the FM receiver. This creates several ways for a listener to encounter the same broadcast identity.

Radio has a different place in everyday life from a screen-led format. It can accompany a journey, a period at work or time at home, with a presenter or a familiar programme becoming part of that routine. A channel-level award recognises the station rather than one individual segment.

The continuity of a radio identity

A station's schedule can serve different moods and times of day. Music, conversation and recurring programme features work together to create a recognisable listening environment. Hiru FM's 2026 category places attention on that overall radio identity, alongside the separate recognition of programmes elsewhere in the awards.

At the Global Business Excellence Awards 2026, Hiru FM receives Most Popular Radio Channel of the Year. The milestone celebrates the named station within the media programme and highlights the continued role of radio as an everyday companion. It is a category shaped by sound, familiarity and the relationship between a broadcast name and the people who choose to listen, whether on air or through the station's digital presence.
