Soorya Dayaruwan: Most Popular Film Actor of the Year at GBE Awards 2026

Soorya Dayaruwan (Moda Tharindu Movie) has received Most Popular Film Actor of the Year at the Global Business Excellence Awards 2026. Organised by London Business Consultancy, London, UK, the awards recognise businesses, professionals and creative work across a broad range of fields. For Soorya Dayaruwan, the 2026 recognition places the spotlight on film performance.

A film role within a distinctive story

Soorya Dayaruwan appears as Tharindu in Moda Tharindu, a Sinhala-language fantasy comedy directed by Thisara Imbulana. Public film information describes a story in which the central character encounters an afterlife setting, bringing comedy and family relationships into the same fictional world.

A role in a film with that premise has to belong to the story's unusual setting while still giving the audience a person to follow. Performance becomes the link between the imaginative situation and the human relationships that make it understandable. This provides a concrete context for the film-performance recognition.

The performer and the film audience

A film actor is encountered over the duration of one complete work, with character development and changes in tone unfolding within that frame. The audience's interest has to move with the story, making the relationship between performance and the film's wider world central to the experience.

At the Global Business Excellence Awards 2026, Soorya Dayaruwan receives Most Popular Film Actor of the Year. The recognition connects the individual actor with Moda Tharindu, bringing a specific film into the story of his 2026 honour. The milestone celebrates the actor and gives film performance its own place in the year's programme, alongside recognition for television, presenting and other forms of creative communication.
